Waltz with Bashir is an animated documentary made by Ari Folman. I saw this film for the second time and was totally moved. It is based on the Lebanon war in 1982 and narrates the story of one man who ventures out to ascertain the truth. I found this film to be really powerful, emotive and gripping.
Hats off to Ari Folman. This film is a must watch for all those who are undergoing training in army combat and military training.
Ever wondered what it would have been like to rope walk between the twin towers ! Man the thought itself is so bizzare, so surreal. It is almost unimaginable. But, hang on – there is someone who has already done that and that too way back in 1974. Perhaps he is the only human being on the face of this earth who has done it. And can you believe – there is a film that is made on that too. It is called Man on wire. And it is such an amazing documentary
From the moment I played it, I was drawn into the film. The film is about Phillip Petit, a French guy who had rope walked between the twin towers in 1974. James Marsh directed the documentary did an amazing job in keeping the viewer glued – Phillip’s passion to walk the rope between the twin towers was so contagious and was very well portrayed. I am totally in love with this film. It is BRILLIANT !
For all those who love documentaries – This film is a must watch.
On the day of the Oscars, at about 3:00 am I got a call from a friend. I could sense the excitement in her voice. She said – “Shrenik, the Documentary film we had been a part of (co-produced) won the Oscar!”…. and she continued….. “I knew it had the potential to be an Oscar winning docco…. I knew it. I knew it. You must see it… You must see it. I will send it across to you.” In about a week, she promptly sent the DVD across to me.
Taxi To The Dark Side is indeed one of the most powerful and energetic films I have ever seen. The Director of the film, Alex Gibney has put in an extraordinary effort in gathering, collating and presenting the data. The film was very well narrated, very well constructed and visually, very well presented. It is indeed an extraordinary production. All aspects of the film, right from the background score to editing seemed perfect. Since then, I have seen the doc three times and I find myself fascinated with it.
The depth of research and the originality in visually illustrating the film was refreshing. At the same time, it was combined with a gripping narrative.
